Our family story. The Rodins' family, Olexander and Nadya, 48 years old. We were born and lived in Slovyansk, Donetsk region, Ukraine. Our elderly parents lived there as well. Our children were born there, it's our hometown. As the majority of people we got used to our home and payed much efforts to make it cozy and comfortable to live. When the war started I continued working in our local grosery shop chain, to provide people in town and my family with food. My husband is disabled as well as my mom, so I was the only provider. I also had to look after my mother in law and my father. We took them to our house as it was dangerous. During 100 days we were trying to survive in Slovyansk under bombardment, without gas, water, electricity supply etc. We had a cat, big dog Caucasian and when the war started we also gave shelter to the abandoned german shepherd Mira. Thus it was hard to find a place to move and live for all of us. First my mother in law an old woman 72 years old decided to escape an thanks to volonteers she could get to Poland. Then my son was brought to Rovno by volonteer bus and managed to find place to stay, my disabled mother went to Kamyanske and stayed at my daughter's place. We couldn't find a house to rent or apartment. Everything was very expensive and we had dog. But it was impossible to stay in Slovyansk anymore and finally my husband and I decided to go to Kamyanske. Some kind person gave us shelter at his summer cottage house, we just had to look after the garden and cut the grass. Вы отправили We left our dog Caucasian, our neighbour fed it, but it died from heart attack because of the loud explosion. When we came to Kamyanske we got some help from the volonteers, they gave us food, it was so helpful. We miss our home, but we are still here. Winter is coming and we need to move again as ther's no heating, toilet and hot water in this summer house. We made new friends, who helped us to find apartment to rent and we can afford it. The change in conditions and level of life is evident in the photo above. But we are thankful as we are alive, we have place to sleep and what to eat today. The future is uncertain.
